On Galevac there is a 15th-century Franciscan monastery that in the past served as a printing house, a gymnasium, and a quarantine station. The Franciscans had a huge influence on the education and culture of Preko and the surrounding villages. The monastery houses a monastic library, and its collection of old and rare books was declared a Protected Cultural Property of the Republic of Croatia in 2016.
Among the most valuable and oldest books is the fifth edition of Marulić's "Judith" from 1527, as well as many Glagolitic missals and breviaries printed in Rome. The monastic library comprises a total of 4,654 titles and 7,092 books and periodicals. The library contains several works from the 16th century and dozens of books from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The renovation of the library was begun by Brother Šime Vladović in 1925, and the gymnasium students helped organize the archival collections until World War II. From 1953 Brother Vladović resumed work on the collection. From 1975 Brother Nikola Gregov oversaw the library.
Three years ago the state placed the inventory of the collection of the Monastery of St. Paul the Hermit under protection as a Cultural Property. In July and August the monastery's museum collection is open to visitors, offering an opportunity to learn more about this historical and cultural treasure.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, a replica of the famous sanctuary in France, is located on the island. This charming structure was built from stone by a pupil of the local high school during the siege of the town in World War II.
The chapel, surrounded by lush greenery and rocky scenery, enchants with its details—from the slender tower to the arched passageways. After years it was restored and today is open to visitors.
