  1. Prague has a very rich history. The city was founded in the 9th century, and for centuries it was the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia, the Holy Roman Empire and Czechoslovakia. Throughout its history Prague witnessed many important events, such as the Defenestration of Prague, which sparked the religious wars in Central Europe in the 17th century.
  2. Prague has many beautiful landmarks. One of the city's most iconic landmarks is Prague Castle, which is the largest castle in the world. It's also worth visiting St. Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and Vyšehrad Castle.
  3. Prague has its own beer. The Czech Republic has been famous for brewing beer for many centuries, and beer from Prague is among the best in the world. Popular local brands include Pilsner Urquell, Budweiser Budvar and Staropramen.
  4. Prague is known for music. Over the centuries many famous musicians have come from Prague, including Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who wrote his opera "Don Giovanni" in Prague.
  5. Prague has its legends. One of the most famous Prague legends is the one about St. Vitus Cathedral, which says that if someone destroys one of its sculptures, the cathedral will collapse. This legend was depicted in the animated film "Three Lead Figures" directed by Jiří Trnka.
  6. Prague has its mystery. In the Old Town there is a mysterious astronomical clock that was built in 1410. The clock displays not only the hours but also the motion of the planets and other celestial bodies. Legend has it that the master clockmaker from Prague was killed by townspeople who were jealous of his beautiful work. Before he died, he allegedly cast a curse on the clock that was supposed to make the clock stop working at random moments.
  7. Prague is a popular filming location. Many films and television series have been shot in Prague, including "Mission: Impossible", "Hellboy", "Casino Royale" and "Life Under Surveillance".
  8. Prague is a city of literature. Many well-known writers come from the Czech Republic and from Prague, including Franz Kafka, Milan Kundera and Bohumil Hrab.
