- Description: You don't often see snow in Edinburgh, but recently we had a little fall. That kind of snow melts quickly, because sub-zero temperatures are unlikely to last here.

You don't often see snow in Edinburgh, but recently the weather gave us a small surprise and it snowed a bit. It wasn't the thick powder known from mountain areas, but enough to cover roofs, parks and streets with a thin white layer. The city immediately took on a different character—calmer, almost more fairytale-like.

Such snow, however, doesn't stay here long. In Edinburgh it's hard to get true winter frosts and sub-zero temperatures are rare and usually short-lived. It only takes a few hours for the white scenery to begin to disappear and for the pavements to be wet again instead of covered in powder. Still, those brief moments have their charm—they remind us of the winter many of us miss in the mild Scottish climate.
